Carlo Ancelotti's former assistant Paul Clement believes that the Italian has a 'lot to offer' and would be a good fit for Liverpool.
The Merseysiders began their new search for a manager on Sunday night after Brendan Rodgers was sacked in the wake of the 1-1 draw against rivals Everton and the 56-year-old has emerged as a candidate for the role.
Ancelotti's previous job ended in acrimonious circumstances when he left his post at the Bernabeu just one year after helping the the Spanish giants claim La Decima with victory over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League final.
Although Ancelotti's latest position ended in disappointment Clement believes that his former boss has all the necessary credentials to be a success at Anfield.
"He had a great career as a player, and a sterling career as a manager - in terms of the clubs he's managed," he told Sky Sports.
"The three wins in the Champions League - [managing] in England, France and Italy as well.
"He's got all the credibility, he's a fantastic man-manager.
"He's enjoying a little bit of rest at the moment but he's got a lot to offer."
Clement, who took over at Derby County in the summer, is adamant that Ancelotti will only consider joining a club if he can challenge for silverware, which he believes Liverpool are capable of.
"He's going to want to be going to a big club, a club where he's got a chance of being successful and winning.
"And there's certainly one available now."
