Carlos Tevez has been tipped to leave Eastlands

Manchester City chairman Khaldoon al-Mubarak has tipped Carlos Tevez to become the best player in the world.

In the wake of City's failure to secure Champions League status, Tevez has been tipped to leave Eastlands.

A recent high-profile attack on manager Roberto Mancini has done little to suggest a harmonious relationship between the Blues highest-profile player and the man Khaldoon insists will remain in charge.

But rather than anticipating a departure, Khaldoon is looking for Tevez to use the platform provided by City to prove he is a player of the highest calibre.

"Carlos Tevez has scored 29 goals and has been the heart and soul of this team," said Khaldoon in an exclusive post-season review with www.mcfc.co.uk. "He has been absolutely phenomenal.

"I have no doubt he's going to be the best player in the world - it is just a matter of time."
