Fulham to learn Championship Play-Off opponents with Reading, Huddersfield and Sheffield Wednesday up for grabs

Fulham have all but secured their place in the Championship Play-Offs, barring a ridiculous goals-swing this afternoon.

Unless Leeds United beat Wigan Athletic by 13 goals (should Fulham lose at Sheffield Wednesday) Slavisa Jokanovic’s side will be in the running for the final promotion place to the Premier League.

Who they will face in the semi-finals remains to be seen, and they could yet play Wednesday three more times (including this afternoon) before their season’s done.

Here are the permutations…

Fulham will face a two-legged meeting with Sheffield Wednesday should they lose at Hillsborough and Reading drops points at Burton. This would also happen if they draw today and Reading lose and Huddersfield fail to beat Cardiff.

Jokanovic’s side can face Huddersfield by avoiding defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, providing Huddersfield beat Cardiff and Reading drop points at Burton. Should Huddersfield draw Reading must lose by two goals for Fulham to face David Wagner’s side.

Technically speaking Fulham could still face Huddersfield should they lose at Hillsborough, but it would require Wagner’s side to win by 16 goals…

For it to be Reading it becomes a little simpler: Win, lose or draw Jaap Stam’s side can face Fulham in the semis.

If Fulham win at Wednesday then a victory for Reading at Burton, or defeat for Huddersfield at Cardiff, would set up this scenario.

Should Fulham draw they can face Reading providing they avoid defeat at Burton and Huddersfield fail to pick up three points against Cardiff.

Fulham will also play Reading if the Royals beat Burton and they lose at Wednesday.
