Chelsea and Arsenal’s hopes of signing Alvaro Morata hinge on Real Madrid keeping Karim Benzema.

Real have told both clubs that Morata, who they value at £55million, will not be sold in January.

That could change in the summer but only if Benzema remains at the Bernabeu and there is interest in the France forward from China.

Morata is a potential replacement for Diego Costa, who could still leave Chelsea in the summer after China’s Tianjin Quanjia failed with a January bid.
