Chelsea have failed with a proposed transfer for Croatia under-17 goalkeeper Adrian Semper, according to the youngster's manager at his club Dinamo Zagreb Zoran Mamic.

Representatives from the reigning Premier League champions are claimed to have travelled to Croatia recently to negotiate a potential move for the 18-year-old, whose current contract with Dinamo expires in 2018.

Semper has featured in this season's Uefa Youth League for Dinamo, including in the team's 2-1 win over Bayern Munich and their 2-0 loss to Arsenal.

But despite tabling a "great offer" for the shot-stopper, Mamic has revealed Dinamo decided to reject Chelsea's advances to allow Semper to continue developing in Croatia.

"Chelsea representatives have been in Zagreb, where they have prepared a great offer," the Dinamo coach said.

"They were professional and pleasant people, but we said no.

"It is never easy to reject such a big offer for a young player, but we are convinced Adrian has a fantastic future ahead of him and we want him to spend at least some of that future with Dinamo."
