Chelsea's forgotten man Marco van Ginkel will consider a permanent move to AC Milan this summer, but is still hoping to forge a career at Stamford Bridge.

Van Ginkel has made just four appearances since joining Chelsea from Vitesse Arnhem for £8 million in 2013.

The Holland international suffered a serious knee injury in September 2013 and was then sent out on a season-long loan to AC Milan this term.

He is just starting to make an impact at the Serie A club after more fitness woes, which has sparked talk of a permanent transfer to the Italian giants.

Van Ginkel's agent, Karel Jansen said: "Staying at Milan? Anything is possible, there is no reason to rule it out.

"It is early and we need to see what would happen in case there's a change of management at the club.

"Additionally we have to deal with Chelsea and see what Marco wants to do. Chelsea is still his goal. We hope to conclude everything before the end of the transfer window."

Chelsea will want to get their £8m investment back if they were to sell, which may price AC Milan out of a deal.

Up till now, the plan was for the 22-year-old to re-join the squad for pre-season training in July and then their tour to the USA for manager Jose Mourinho to assess his progress, with another season-long loan the most likely scenario.
