This seat is reserved! Arsene Wenger sits with journalists at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea vs Arsenal EFL Cup clash

Arsene Wenger is sat among the press for Arsenal’s EFL Cup semi-final tie with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Arsenal manager is serving the second game of his three-match touchline ban, handed to him by the FA for comments he made to referee Mike Dean in the aftermath of the 1-1 draw with West Brom at the Hawthorns on New Year’s Eve.

Wenger would usually be placed in the director’s box, which is in the West Stand across the pitch from the dressing rooms, but instead finds himself among reporters for a match in which his every move would doubtless have been closely followed anyway.

He was joined by coach Jens Lehmann, and sat in front of two of Standard Sport's reporters.

Though Wenger will doubtless not enjoy his evening among the press, it does at least avoid any awkward encounters such as those he was on the end of last time he served a touchline ban at Chelsea’s ground.

Arsene Wenger; Frustrated by pitchside ban

"I sat next to a guy who says ‘hello, how are you’. I said ‘good afternoon.’ He said, ‘I am your gardener’. I didn’t even know him," Wenger admitted.
