Chelsea will sign Portuguese goalkeeper Eduardo next week, according to Dinamo Zagreb manager Zlatko Kranjcar.

Antonio Conte already has Thibaut Courtois and Asmir Begovic at his disposal but is in the market for a back-up option after allowing Jamal Blackman to join Wycombe Wanderers on loan.

Eduardo, 33, has a wealth of experience and was part of Portugal's victorious Euro 2016 squad but did not feature at the tournament in France due to the form of Rui Patricio.

The veteran is set to play in Zagreb's Champions League play-off against Red Bull Salzburg on August 24 but is then expected to depart for Stamford Bridge.

When asked if Eduardo is likely to leave after the club's European fate is decided Kranjcar told ESPN: "Yes, I think so.

"Eduardo has been given an amazing opportunity to leave for a big club like Chelsea.

"The situation is that he is leaving. May he have all the good luck in a big club," he added.

Eduardo began his career in his homeland with Braga B and made over 100 appearances before progressing to the club's first team.

He also spent four years in Serie A with Genoa before moving to Croatia with Zagreb in 2014.

Eduardo would become Conte's third signing of the summer as the Italian has already brought in Michy Batshuayi and N'Golo Kante from Marseille and Leicester respectively.
