A bitterly disappointed Neil Warnock appeared to engage in a bizarre staredown with officials in the middle of the pitch following Cardiff City's controversial Premier League defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.

The relegation-threatened Bluebirds led the match 1-0 courtesy of Victor Camarasa's volley shortly after the half-time interval, only for late headers from Cesar Azpilicueta and substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek to turn the tide in favour of the visitors.

Azpilicueta looked to be in an offside position when notching the equaliser, while referee Craig Pawson then opted to show only a yellow card to Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger for a foul on Kenneth Zohore when the Cardiff striker was clean through on goal.

These were both decisions that clearly enraged Warnock, who made his feelings with regards to the goal perfectly clear when shaking hands with opposite number Maurizio Sarri after the full-time whistle.

Rather than remonstrate passionately with officials, however, the 70-year-old seemed to pull his players away before simply staring at the men in the middle while boos rained down from around the Cardiff City Stadium.

They eventually opted to walk past Warnock - who also spent time applauding all four stands - rather than wait for the Cardiff boss to head towards the tunnel.

According to Sky Sports, Warnock later asked for time to sufficiently calm down before conducting his usual post-match media duties.
