A bridge too far: The Cesc Fabregas poster has been taken down
Andy Hodgson3 July 2014

Arsenal have removed a banner from the Ken Friar Bridge at the Emirates Stadium, depicting a large image of Cesc Fabregas.

The bridge, named in honour of the club's long-serving director, will no longer feature an image of the Spaniard who moved to Chelsea from Barcelona in a £27m move in June.

After moving to Stamford Bridge, Fabregas explained his decision and made it clear he would have returned to former Arsenal had they chosen to trigger the buy-back clause in his contract, which was installed when he left the Emirates for Barcelona in 2011.

He added: "If I didn't think that I'd be happy at Chelsea, I would've never made this decision. Above all, I want to be happy both professionally and personally.

"Chelsea have great players - young and talented - and building a great team with new signings. I have no doubt I'll be happy, I lived in London for eight years, I have friends and family there."
