David Luiz has vowed to keep on fighting for victories after admitting Chelsea were made to pay for not being fully focused against Liverpool.

Luiz made his first debut for Chelsea at home to the Reds in February 2011 - a game that ended in defeat for the Blues - and the Brazilian's second debut against the same opposition on Friday night resulted in a similar result, a victory for Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois admitted that Jurgen Klopp's side were deserved 2-1 winners on Friday, a belief Luiz echoed when discussing how his side's lack of concentration allowed Dejan Lovren and Jordan Henderson to score in the first half.

"Liverpool controlled the game in the first half with a lot of possession, changing position," Luiz told Chelsea's official website.

"Their second goal was amazing, the first one was a quick free-kick and we must pay attention to this sort of thing because they started better than us.

"The second half we controlled the game, almost scored a second goal to draw and of course it is not a good night for us but we’ll keep fighting for the next games.

"This is the Premier League. When you make a mistake and don’t pay attention, particularly from the free-kick, you pay."

Antonio Conte will now take his Chelsea side to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday where the Blues will face Leicester City in the EFL Cup.

Since Claudio Ranieri's side were beaten 4-1 by Liverpool last weekend, the Foxes have won in the Champions League and in the league.

And Luiz has called on his Chelsea teammates to show an improved performance against Leicester, much like Conte who insisted on Friday his squad must do better if they are to challenge for titles this season.

"I am very happy to be back playing these sort of games, the best games in the world," Luiz said. "But I am just a bit sad because I didn’t start how I wished.

"Now I am looking forward to the other games, they never stop. We need to improve, we need to do better to win games."
