Filipe Luis is finding it much harder to win the title with Chelsea than he did with Atletico Madrid in Spain last season.

Atletico caused a major upset by beating Real Madrid and Barcelona to La Liga crown and although the Brazil left-back admits it was a huge challenge to match those two clubs last term, the competitiveness of the Premier League has come as a shock.

He said: “In Spain you fight, of course, against Real Madrid and Barcelona and they almost never lose because they have the biggest squads and they are two of the biggest clubs in the world. So it’s really difficult.

“But in the Premier League the big clubs can lose and drop points. Games that are supposed to be easy are never easy. That’s why we, and other teams, lose points.

“In Spain it takes mid-90s or over a 100 points to be champion but here with Chelsea it is going to take a little less. But in the same way as Spain, we have to try to win all the games.”

Costa limped off just 12 minutes after coming on as a substitute in the 2-1 win over Stoke on Saturday.

Boss Jose Mourinho had hoped Chelsea’s top scorer would be out for just two weeks but that is too optimistic so he will miss the match with Manchester United on April 18.
