Craig Bellamy to join Cardiff City

7 August 2012

Liverpool’s Craig Bellamy will be on his way to Cardiff City within the next 24 hours, according to reports.

Bellamy excelled last season in his second spell at Anfield and then capped off the campaign as one of the stand-out performers for Team GB’s men’s football team.

New Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers is understandably reluctant to see such a figure leave the club but will sanction the transfer on personal grounds because Bellamy wants to be nearer his family in South Wales, claims the Daily Post.

The 33-year-old will leave on a free and bring the curtain down on a period at Anfield that saw him score nine times in 37 games including the winning goal in the Carling Cup semi-final.

News of the move will come as a disappointment to Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes who was hoping to be reunited with the forward. However, a move to QPR was always unlikely as the Reds were keen not to see him move to another Premier League club.

The transfer will signal the beginning of Bellamy’s second spell at Cardiff after he spent the 2010/11 season on loan there.
