Darren Bent could be back in shape for Euro 2012

2 May 2012

Darren Bent could be ready for Euro 2012 even though the England striker is out of Aston Villa’s fight to stay in the Premier League.

The striker had surgery on ruptured ankle ligaments at the start of March. Villa have struggled without him and sit just three points above the relegation zone with games against Tottenham and Norwich to come.

Manager Alex McLeish believes Bent could be fit for England’s opener against France on June 11. He said: “I don’t believe he’ll play again for us this season. However, the doc thinks he’s got a chance for the Euros, though, he’s talking about four or five weeks [until he’s ready to play].”
