Northern Ireland vs Germany: Struggling Germany will have more attacking punch, warns Mario Gotze

Germany have struggled in their first two matches but Mario Gotze has warned Northern Ireland their misfiring attack will improve in their final Group C game.

Northern Ireland face Germany in Paris tomorrow with Michael O’Neill’s side knowing a draw will almost certainly send them through to the last 16.

Germany have been below their best and lacked a cutting edge against Ukraine and Poland with Joachim Low using Gotze as the leader of his forward line.

The world champions failed to create many chances in their 0-0 draw with Poland last Thursday and Low is under pressure to play with an orthodox striker and start Mario Gomez, while Andre Schurrle could also be used through the middle.

“Of course we want to have more punch in attack,” said Gotze. “Both in training and in the analysis we are looking for some solutions but we are in a good position.”

Germany and Poland both have four points and first place in the group could come down to goal difference. Northern Ireland have three points and could even progress if they lose.
