Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed added incentive ahead of Portugal's quarter-final clash with Poland following Lionel Messi's decision to retire from international football.
The Real Madrid forward will know adding a major piece of international silverware his trophy cabinet could tip the ongoing battle to be crowned the world's best in his favour.
But Portugal are not all about Ronaldo's flamboyance. A gritty display against Croatia helped them get this far and they have had to grind out results, rather than sweep opponents aside, to progress.
However, Poland represent a stern test at Stade Velodrome, and have a game changer of their own in Robert Lewandowski.

30 mins: A shove on Ronaldo there? Surely there was. A cross from out on the left and Pazdan wipes the Portugal forward out inside the box.
Ronaldo pleads for a penalty, nothing doing though.
28 mins: Ronaldo does finally find some space for a shot from a fair way outside the area. It's low but lacks much in the way of venom, Fabianski is well behind it.
