Everton vs Chelsea Player Ratings: Romelu Lukaku stars as Diego Costa red card sinks Hiddink FA Cup dreams

Vaishali Bhardwaj12 March 2016

Chelsea suffered another disappointing day in the office after being knocked out of the FA Cup quarter-finals by Everton courtesy of a brace from former Blues striker Romelu Lukaku.

The burly striker, who was sold to the Toffees by Chelsea in 2014, scored twice in the second half to send Everton into the semi-finals of a competition Guus Hiddink had desperately wanted to win before departing the club this summer.

Diego Costa, who missed a first-half chance to give the visitors the lead when he drove just wide, was sent off for two bookable offences in clashes with Gareth Barry.

The Everton midfielder was also sent off for a second yellow in what a feisty affair at Goodison Park, and the defeat - days after elimination from the Champions League - leaves Chelsea with only a European spot to play for in the league.
