Jose Mourinho insists he is treated differently to other Premier League managers, after he was charged with improper conduct by the Football Association.

Mourinho avoided punishment for his remarks about referee Chris Foy following last Saturday's defeat to Aston Villa, but has since been charged for being sent to that stands after leaving his technical area at Villa Par.

The Chelsea boss has revealed his intention to contest the charge, and claimed the authorities look upon his cases with greater scrutiny.

The 51-year-old's opposite number Paul Lambert was not charged despite also encroaching on the pitch in the same match.

"Look, you see the charges from the last match, and you see that I'm different than anyone else," said Mourinho.

"In the eyes of people, I am different. That, I think, is obvious.

"It's obvious there's a measure for some, there is a measure for me.

"There is a way where I can feel the differences, all the time."

If the Portuguese manager is unsuccessful in his appeal, he could be hit with a £10,000 fine.

He said: "It can be £1. It's the principle."
