Forget it Spurs, Joe Cole is staying at Chelsea

11 April 2012

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti today insisted that Joe Cole will agree a new contract at Chelsea.

Cole, whose current deal runs out at the end of the season, has been strongly linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge due to his lack of regular first-team football — he will be on the bench again on Sunday against Wigan — and his salary demands.

Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is keen to have Cole playing for him in the Champions League next season but Ancelotti said: "I think Joe Cole will stay here. Rarely I make a mistake. In January I said no one would come in (the transfer window) and no one came in. We have 10 days to wait.

"The club will speak with Joe and the other players who are at the end of their contracts after the FA Cup Final."
