Frank de Boer says he is undertaking a "long-term project" at Crystal Palace and has warned fans they cannot expect the club to win every game.

Palace have suffered three straight defeats under De Boer without scoring a goal and are only kept off the bottom by a marginally better goal difference than West Ham.

The Eagles travel to Burnley on Sunday and De Boer is under mounting pressure to alter his tactics after talks with club chairman Steve Parish.

The former Ajax boss has been playing with three at the back, but is willing to switch to a 4-3-3 system in a bid to keep his job.

"I have always had serious conversations with Steve, one day in the week we come together and talk about what’s going on.

"I’m not so concerned about it, we have a very good relationship. We know this is not a one day project, it’s long-term," said De Boer.

Palace lost at home to Huddersfield and Swansea either side of a narrow defeat to Liverpool, but De Boer says the squad still need a couple more games to find their rhythm.

"You cannot expect to win every game, it’s a work in progress still," he added.

"Normally you have 10 games to think ‘this is the way we like to play’.

"We only had four pre-season games, three PL games and one cup game. We still are are 7 or 8 games.

"I think still we can improve a lot in how we want to play."
