Fulham locked in talks as angry Martin Jol speaks out

Concerns: Martin Jol, watching Ajax’s 7-0 win over an amateur side last night, is worried about the Dutch club’s future

Martin Jol today revealed for the first time the depth of his frustrations at Ajax as negotiations continued over his move to Craven Cottage,.

Fulham chairman Alistair Mackintosh was in Amsterdam this morning finalising a compensation package after the Dutch club agreed to talk to him.

Fulham are hopeful of exploiting Jol's current malaise after he expressed his anger at Ajax's decision to release winger Dennis Rommedahl and striker Marko Pantelic on free transfers, plus the sale of Gabri Garcia.

Uruguay forward Luis Suarez and Holland right-back Gregory van der Wiel have also been linked with moves away from the club and Jol admitted today that his concerns are long standing.

"I've been through this a lot in the last couple of months but then nobody knew about it so it wasn't a problem," he said.

"But now it's news in the UK, it gets over here to Holland and things get hectic.

"I am worried about the future and fortunately Ajax are worried too. We let Pantelic, Rommedahl and Gabri go, plus there is interest in some of our other players.

"We are worried about that and we keep talking about how to solve the problem.

"I see teams buying players and that's what Ajax should be doing.

"I know it's tough for Ajax to do that but with some creativity we can do it."

Ajax beat amateur side Rijnsburgse Boys 7-0 last night before which Jol is thought to have told chairman Uri Coronel of his desire to join Fulham.

Former Tottenham manager Jol, who still has a house in London, is thought to have a release clause in his contract — which has two years to run — allowing him to move to a Premier League club for a set fee, believed to be in the region of £1million.
