Manager Slavisa Jokanovic suggested he was on the brink of bringing in a new signing after watching a youthful Fulham side hold off a late Leyton Orient charge to win their first-round EFL Cup tie 3-2.

Jokanovic made 11 changes from the starting line-up that saw off Newcastle in their Sky Bet Championship opener last Friday, and saw youngsters Dennis Adeniran and Cauley Woodrow score the goals that ultimately saw them progress.

The Cottagers boss was pleased to learn more about his young players, but revealed his focus was now on bringing in a new striker with a deal for a new player imminent.

"I don't want to bring in more young players at the moment, I am looking for senior players," he said.

"I need strikers and we are looking at the market. I need a bigger senior squad and I hope to sign someone very, very soon.

"The young players showed me quality and character and I'll use them in the future, although it depends on them, although they can be important for the future but they need time."
