A late goal from Romain Saiss denied Fulham their first win in five games as Wolves snatched a late 1-1 draw at Craven Cottage.
Ryan Sessegnon came off the bench to bag what looked to be the winner with just 15 minutes left, but Saiss levelled the score in the 85th minute to deny Fulham all three points and back-to-back clean sheets.
Having conceded a goal in each of their first 17 games this term, Ranieri's switch to a back five earned Fulham a first clean sheet against Newcastle last time out.
And the Italian kept faith in that setup to match Wolves' 3-4-2-1 formation. The Cottagers looked a lot more solid at the back and after a quiet opening, Aleksandar Mitrovic racked up the chances but couldn't find the net.
The Serb was inches away from meeting Cyrus Christie's cross, and minutes later fired into the hands of Rui Patricio.
A change at the break from Nuno Espírito Santo saw Ivan Cavaleiro replace Adama Traore and immediately Wolves looked more dangerous.
But it was the home side who broke the deadlock when Sessegnon fired a low volley and it crossed the line before Ryan Bennett could clear.
The away side pressed for an equaliser against an increasingly vulnerable Fulham defence and soon got their reward, with Cavaleiro crossing to the back post where Saiss bundled home to break Fulham hearts.
The hosts jump off bottom into 19th despite throwing away yet another lead.
