Giuseppe Sannino named new Watford boss

Just three days after the resignation of Gianfranco Zola as manager of Watford, the club have appointed Giuseppe Sannino as his replacement.

Sannino, 56, has had a string of jobs in Italian football including spells at Palermo and Siena - with mixed results.

Watford confirmed that Sannino will be joined by assistant coaches Francesco Troise, Giovanni Cusatis and Paolo De Toffol at Vicarage Road.

The appointment comes after the manager met with Watford owner Gino Pozzo with his representatives last night. The Hornets have not yet confirmed the length of his contract.

Zola resigned on Monday after 18 months in charge of the Championship club. Despite leading them to the play-off final the former Chelsea man saw his team endure a nine game winless run this season leading to his exit.
