Golden Boy award 2020: Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United rising stars join Jadon Sancho on shortlist

A 60-player shortlist for the 2020 Golden Boy award has been released, with 14 of the top young Premier League talents included alongside England star Jadon Sancho.

The award - created by Italian newspaper Tuttosport - has been running since 2003, and involves journalists across the continent voting for the best top-flight players aged 21 or under in Europe across one calendar year.

In June, Tuttosport revealed the initial 100 nominations, which has now been reduced to 60 as the competition heats up.

Arsenal breakthrough stars Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli both feature on the list along with new team-mate William Saliba, who will join Mikel Arteta's squad after returning to Saint-Etienne on loan after they signed him in 2019.

Also still within a chance of winning the prestigious award are Chelsea duo Callum Hudson-Odoi and Ethan Ampadu, alongside Tottenham's Ryan Sessegnon.

Manchester United, who were well represented with three nominations in the initial 100, now have just Mason Greenwood leading the way for their youngsters.

Premier League champions Liverpool remain well-stocked, however, with Curtis Jones and Neco Williams both present on the list, while Phil Foden leads the charge for rivals Manchester City alongside Yan Couto and new signing Ferran Torres.

Elsewhere from the Premier League, Wolves' Pedro Neto is also included along with Southampton's Michael Obafemi.

Borussia Dortmund duo Erling Haaland, 19, and Sancho, 20, will certainly be considered top contenders for the prize after stellar seasons in front of goal. The pair are also joined by new signing, 17-year-old Jude Bellingham.

Bayern Munich left-back Alphonso Davies is also included after his scintillating display against Barcelona, who themselves have Ansu Fati arguably topping their representatives.

The award has gone to a number of high-profile names, with Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix claiming it in 2019.

Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Aguero, Paul Pogba, Raheem Sterling, Anthony Martial and Kylian Mbappe are all also previous winners.
