Harry Redknapp back in for Scott Loach

Harry Redknapp is set to renew his interest in Watford goalkeeper Scott Loach this month as he seeks to sign quality back-up for Heurelho Gomes.

The Tottenham boss has been linked with England internationals David James and Ben Foster but claimed yesterday he was in the market only for a No2 keeper, rather than an established star.

Watford value England Under-21 international Loach at £2million and he comes highly recommended by Spurs goalkeeping coach Tony Parks, who has watched the 21-year-old on numerous occasions this season. The goalkeeping department is not the only one Redknapp is keen to strengthen this month, with central defence also a priority following Jonathan Woodgate's latest setback.

The former England defender will spend a month in the United States to try to solve a pelvic problem that has restricted him to only three appearances this term. And with Ledley King's fragile knee continuing to cause problems, Redknapp needs reinforcements.

Sunderland defender Anton Ferdinand remains a potential target.
