Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Henrikh Mkhitaryan after it emerged the forward wants a move to Manchester United.

The 27-year-old has a year to run on his contract at Borussia Dortmund but is unwilling to continue negotiations over improved terms at Signal Iduna Park.

The Gunners have scouted Mkhitaryan on several occasions although they face competition as he has won recognition from a number of Europe's leading sides, including Manchester United.

The Armenia international is reportedly among Jose Mourinho's leading targets and the former Chelsea boss is said to have already seen a £19million bid for the player rejected.

But United's hopes of Mkhitaryan have received a boost after agent Mino Raiola confirmed his client hopes to complete a move to Old Trafford.

“He wants to go to Manchester United and we are still trying to resolve the situation,” saidRaiola.

The Dortmund star scored 11 goals this season as Thomas Tuchel's side finished runners-up to Bayern Munich in Bundesliga.
