Hummel unveil Afghanistan kit with attached hijab and full-body base layer

Tom Dutton9 March 2016

Hummel international have launched a kit for the Afganistan Women's team which comes with an accompanying hijab.

The red strip includes an underlayer which covers the whole body and is the first in the world to accommodate the Islamic beliefs of female players.

It is no coincidence that hummel chose International Women's Day to launch their new design, with the man behind the sportswear company Christian Stadil intent on tackling discrimination.

"If you want to create positive change, you have to meet people, as well as nations and cultures, where they are," said Stadil.

"So if we want to create positive changes, for the women especially in Afghanistan, we have to meet them where they are."

Many of these women, they have to, they want to, wear a hijab and that's why we have chosen to make a very fasdhionable hijab for these great girls of Afghanistan.
