Jordan Rhodes call is a ‘no brainer’

15 August 2012

Craig Levein has no qualms giving Jordan Rhodes his first start for Scotland tonight.

The Huddersfield striker will lead the line in the friendly against Australia at Easter Road because Queens Park Rangers forward Jamie Mackie has a calf strain.

Rhodes’s only senior Scotland appearance was as a substitute against Cyprus last November but he has scored eight times for the Under‑21s and struck 40 goals in League One last term.

Scotland boss Levein said: “You look at Jordan’s goalscoring record and it is a tough one to beat.

“He has trained well and done exceptionally well in the Under-21s side so, for me, it’s a no brainer, he will start the match.”
