Jose Mourinho has claimed he pays more attention to the results of the sides outside of the Premier League’s top four, rather than those of Chelsea’s supposed title rivals.

Chelsea soared to the top of the Premier League on Saturday afternoon following a convincing 3-0 victory over Newcastle.

However, Mourinho continues to dismiss and refute suggestions that his side are fast becoming title favourites.

His latest move was to suggest he is more concerned about the results of Tottenham, Everton and Manchester United, than those of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool.

"I know today we are top of the league but I look to fifth place,” said the Chelsea manager. “I look to Tottenham v Everton and Manchester United v Fulham tomorrow and I want to be far from fifth.

"When we are far from fifth and have a Champions League position under control, then it will be time to look at Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool and see where they are and see the distances.

"From that point, we can start thinking about other things."

Chelsea’s victory, combined with Liverpool’s 5-1 thrashing of Arsenal and Manchester City’s goalless draw at Norwich has seen the Blues become favourites with many bookies to lift the Premier League trophy in May.

Mourinho will look to make it three league wins in eight days when Chelsea travel to the Hawthorns to face West Brom on Tuesday evening.
