Jules Kounde: Barcelona confirm internal talks as Chelsea linked with summer transfer move

French international reportedly unhappy with current role at Camp Nou

Barcelona sporting director Mateu Alemany says talk over Jules Kounde’s future at the club will be “resolved internally.”

The French international only joined the LaLiga champions last summer from Sevilla but has reportedly asked to leave.

It is thought Kounde has grown unhappy with his role as a right-back having played the majority of his careeer as a central defender.

Chelsea were strongly interested in the 24-year-old last summer and were close to sealing a £55m deal for the defender.

Barca, however, hijacked the deal during a busy summer of activity despite a backdrop of financial uncertainity.

Kounde has again been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge ahead of what looks like another busy transfer window.

“These are internal situations that we will resolve internally,” Alemany told DAZN.

Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be appointed as the club’s third head coach of the Boehly-Clearlake Capital era after a nightmare season for the club.

Chelsea could be primed for something of an overhaul as the Argentine looks to yield a major improvement out of the squad.
