Simon Mignolet has revealed that Jurgen Klopp has hugged every single one Liverpool's players since his arrival on Merseyside in October.

The passionate German coach has enjoyed a positive start to his spell in charge at Anfield and Saturday's emphatic 4-1 victory at Manchester City helped the Reds move to within six points of the top four.

But while the former Borussia Dortmund manager's high-intensity pressing style of football has been cited as the main reason behind Liverpool's resurgence, a little bit of TLC clearly hasn't gone amiss either.

The Belgian goalkeeper is adamant that Klopp's hands-on approach has helped instill much-needed confidence in the 48-year-old's methods.

"He's hugged all of the players and it gives you a good feeling because you know that he's behind you and supporting you," he told BBC 5 Live.

"That's what you need as a player, you need to feel the confidence of the manager - and the whole staff - to feel that they're behind you and that we're working in the same direction."

Klopp may well possess a softer side, but his brand of 'Gegenpressing' football is hard hitting.

Liverpool have utilised the style of play well away from home in recent weeks and Mignolet has admitted that there is "no discussion" when it comes to how Klopp sets his team up.

"It's something that just has to be done. From the first day he arrived, it's something that we've worked really hard on.

"To make sure that once we lose the ball we press the opponent high up the field and get the ball back as quickly as possible.

"I think that's something we did at Manchester City - we didn't give them a chance to control the game or play their own football - we set the tempo ourselves."
