Juventus confirm Chelsea's 'very good' bid for Alex Sandro was rejected

Juventus have confirmed Chelsea failed with a "very good offer" for Alex Sandro.

Reports on Saturday claimed the Premier League champions made a club-record bid of £55million for the left-back as Antonio Conte looks to bolster squad.

Sandro, a Brazil international who moved to the Serie A giants two years ago, still has three years to run on his current deal.

"Our desire is to not sell any of our most important players," general director Giuseppe Marotta told Corriere dello Sport.

"We said no to a very good offer from Chelsea for Alex Sandro. But we know that we are competing with clubs that are in a position to offer wages that are not rational for us and players are always their own boss."

He added: "I do not know how Alex Sandro reacted."

Chelsea are yet to add to their squad this summer though Standard Sport understands former Manchester City goalkeeper Willy Caballero could become their first signing on July 1.
