Arsenal have suffered yet another injury setback during the international break, with news that Laurent Koscielny has been released from the France squad due to an Achilles problem.
The news follows yesterday's announcement from the German football federation that Mesut Ozil would be sidelined for up to three months with knee ligament tear.
A statement released by the French Football Federation revealed that Koscienly was suffering from 'chronic tendinitis of both Achilles tendons', a long-standing issue which the defender has had for 'several months'.
Arsene Wenger is already without first team stars Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Olivier Giroud - while Theo Walcott isn't expected to return for another two weeks - with goalkeeper David Ospina, Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Debuchy also sidelined.
The Gunners are yet to make a statement on the French defender's condition, but did release a statement yesterday playing down fears regarding the severity of Ozil's layoff.
A statement on Arsenal's official website read: "Arsenal can confirm that midfielder Mesut Ozil is returning to London from international duty with Germany after picking up a knee injury during Sunday’s game at Chelsea."
"Ozil complained of a sore left knee after the game and the club advised the German FA to run medical checks when he joined up with his international squad.
"The club will make further assessments and it is too early to say how long Ozil may be out of action."
