The Foxes looked all set to cause an upset at Anfield but Takumi Minamino’s stoppage time strike forced a penalty shootout and Jurgen Klopp’s side prevailed to set up a semi-final meeting with Arsenal.
Klopp was furious at the prospect of having to play this game only two days after his side’s Boxing Day meeting with Leeds United, but that fixture was called off after a coronavirus outbreak in the Leeds camp, easing the festive fixture burden.
