Lionel Messi scored all five goals as Argentina won 5-0 over Estonia in a friendly on Sunday.

A stunning performance for the footballing great saw him opening the scoring from the penalty spot in the eighth minute before doubling his, and his nation's, lead on the stroke of half-time.

Messi completed his hat-trick within two minutes of the restart and added his fourth and fifth strikes in the 71st and 76th minutes.

The Paris Saint-Germain forward was, unsurprisingly, named man of the match.

Gary Lineker was quick to lavish praise on Messi, tweeting soon after the final whistle: “The extraordinary Lionel Messi has scored all five of Argentina’s goals tonight.

“Astonishingly, it’s not his goal scoring that elevates him from the other greats. He’s also as good a passer and dribbler as anyone that’s ever played the game. The Messiah.”

It is not the first time Messi has scored five in a game.

Back in 2012, Messi became the first player to score five goals in a Champions League match as Barcelona beat Bayer Leverkusen 7-1 to complete a 10-2 aggregate quarter-final win.
