Crystal Palace are determined to spoil Steven Gerrard’s Anfield farewell.

Liverpool captain Gerrard will make his final appearance in front of the Kop tomorrow after an illustrious 17-year career with his boyhood club.

Palace defender Scott Dann, a Liverpool fan, knows Gerrard can expect an emotional goodbye from home supporters before he joins LA Galaxy this summer.

Dann said: “Liverpool are going to be up for it and they will want to put in a good performance for Steven Gerrard and his last home game. But we are on the back of four defeats and we will go to Anfield trying to get a good result.

“It is always a good atmosphere at Anfield but it will probably be a little bit more special tomorrow. I know the impact he has made and he is an inspiration to the people of Liverpool.”

Gerrard admits he is “dreading” saying farewell to the Liverpool fans after the game and Dann has paid tribute to the 34-year-old.

“He has not got the silverware in terms of Premier League medals that others have got,” said the defender. “But what he has done for Liverpool, and the way he has carried them at times, ranks right up there with trophies.”

A top-half finish looks unlikely for Palace following four straight defeats but Dann is determined to finish the season strongly.

“It is so hard to win four or five games on the bounce but then you can go five, six or seven games without a win,” he said. “We are on that type of run at the moment, but the positive thing is we have played two top teams in the last two weeks and put in good performances. We will take that into the Liverpool game.”
