Liverpool to sign Kylian Mbappe? I hoped Nike deal would fund dream transfer, says Rickie Lambert

Liverpool's new Nike deal could help them sign a marquee forward, and Rickie Lambert hopes it will be Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe.

The club have agreed a British record kit deal with the sportswear giant, starting this summer after their deal with New Balance was cut short.

Former Reds striker Lambert said the news led to him "dreaming" of Mbappe arriving at Anfield, a prospect he accepts in unlikely.

When asked about Liverpool signing Mabppe, Lambert told talkSPORT: "You always dream, don’t you?"

"I was thinking with Nike taking over, every time you take over a team, they always have a marquee signing.

"I was hoping Mbappe or something. But I think he is out of our reach, to be honest."

He added: "I would like to see Liverpool bring in at least one more forward to help with the goals, to help the front three and to give it a little bit more competition."
