Liverpool have Thiago Alcantara back in the starting line-up for the visit of Leeds in the Premier League today.

Thiago missed the loss at Nottingham Forest due to an ear infection, which has since passed, though fellow midfielder Jordan Henderson is only fit for the bench.

The Reds captain came off with a knee injury in the 3-0 Champions League win at Ajax on Wednesday, and manager Jurgen Klopp said: “With Hendo we have to wait a little bit, it's a knock, knee was a bit stiff [on Thursday], he had only treatment.

“So we will see how he will be [on Friday]. I expect him to be OK to be honest."

Both Fabinho and Harvey Elliott start at Anfield with Curtis Jones and James Milner on the bench.

Klopp made sure to praise Darwin Nunez, who scored against Ajax in midweek for the fourth goal of a busy October - and he starts against Leeds.

He said: “The steps he's making are really big, and that means automatically he settles in more and more. The potential is incredible, and it's not only speed - the attitude is really good, he's a real worker.”

Long-term absentees Luis Diaz, Arthur, Joel Matip and Diogo Jota all remain out of contention.

Liverpool XI: Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Fabinho, Thiago, Elliott; Salah, Firmino, Nunez.

Subs: Kelleher, Konate, Milner, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Tsimikas, Jones, Carvalho, Phillips.
