Michael Owen explains why Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane must stick together

Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah should not consider a move away from Liverpool because they would not be able to reach the same heights without each other.

That is the view of former Reds striker Michael Owen, who has suggested that the trio’s chemistry is the key to the fine individual performances they regularly produce.

Joint Premier League Golden Boot winners last term, Salah and Mane’s goals have been crucial to their team’s recent habit of picking up trophies.

Both would acknowledge, however, that their impressive figures would not be achievable were it not for the hard work and intelligence of Liverpool’s attacking fulcrum Firmino.

And Owen is certain that every member of that feared front three would suffer were they to go it alone at a different club.

He told BBC Radio 5 Live: “I just think this current three, a bit like the Liverpool team really, it just clicks.

“If you lifted individual players and put them into different teams within the Premier League would they be as good without each other?

“It is debatable and probably arguable that you would say no.

“This team just gels so well with each other and I think that the attacking players benefit so much from the full-backs that are really attacking players.

“The midfielders give a really solid foundation. I just think everything gels so well.

“To the eye, this three probably beat most attacking units over the years.”
