Lomas fury: Millwall showed no fight

2 October 2013

Manager Steve Lomas has demanded a response from his Millwall players after their run of three wins came to a shuddering halt with a 4-0 thumping at Birmingham City.

Millwall goalkeeper David Forde saved a penalty from Jesse Lingard in the ninth minute but that was the only bright spot for the visitors.

Birmingham goalkeeper Darren Randolph was only forced into serious action once last night, denying Lee Martin in the second half with the hosts already 2‑0 up.

Millwall’s run of victories came after a 5-1 hammering at Derby and boss Lomas said: “We have to dust ourselves down like we did after that game, which I didn’t expect would happen again. Saturday’s trip to Bournemouth is a massive game for us.”

“We just didn’t get going. In this League, if you don’t run and scrap then you come unstuck and that’s what happened.

“As good as we were in the last three games, we were the polar opposite and we’ve got to look at ourselves and ask if the mentality was right coming into this game.”
