Luka Modric set for London return

3 January 2013

Luka Modric is set to return to London — but not until the January transfer window closes.

The former Tottenham midfielder, who moved to Real Madrid from White Hart Lane for £33million in the summer, will be back in the capital next month.

Modric will be the star attraction when Croatia take on Olympic bronze medallists South Korea in an international friendly at Craven Cottage on February 6.

The 27-year-old has struggled to justify his price tag at the Bernabeu and was recently voted the worst signing of the season by Spanish newspaper Marca. Former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song, who has managed just nine starts since his £15m move to Barcelona, came second in the poll.

Modric has failed to displace Xabi Alonso or Mesut Ozil from Jose Mourinho’s midfield and has managed just one goal in 19 games for Real.

Everton striker Nikica Jelavic, who has scored six goals in 21 appearances this season, and Swansea’s Ki Sung-Yueng will also be in action for the afternoon kick-off.

The match is open to all supporters and ticket prices range from £5 to £15.
