Man United XI vs Middlesbrough: Pogba starts - Confirmed FA Cup team news, starting lineup, injury latest

Jonathan Gorrie5 February 2022

Manchester United take on Middlesbrough in the FA Cup tonight with Paul Pogba returning to the starting lineup.

Pogba has not played since November due to a thigh injury but Ralf Rangnick has brought the midfielder straight back in for the fourth-round tie at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo also starts for hosts, making his first appearance in the FA Cup since his return to the club. Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bruno Fernandes are in all the team too, in what looks an incredibly attacking lineup.

Diogo Dalot is preferred to Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has to settle for a place on the bench, while Dean Henderson starts in goal.

After having a deadline-day exit blocked by United, Jesse Lingard will not feature after being granted some time off to “clear his mind”

Rangnick said: “He asked me and the club could I give him a couple of days off just to clear up his mind. He will be in the group next Monday and then be a regular part of the squad again.”

Edinson Cavani will not feature after being given extra time off following international duty with Uruguay, while Victor Lindelof misses out through illness and Eric Bailly has an ankle issue. Mason Greenwood does not feature.

Man United XI: Henderson, Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Sancho, Fernandes, Rashford, Ronaldo

Subs: Grant, Heaton, Jones, Wan-Bissaka, Fred, Hannibal, Mata, Matic, Elanga
