Jack Rodwell is expected to complete a £10million move to Sunderland today.

The former Everton midfielder moved to Manchester City for £12million in 2012 but started just seven Premier League games.

Rodwell was at Sunderland’s Academy of Light facility yesterday, to discuss personal terms.

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet’s transfer business so far this summer has been low key, with Jordi Gomez, Billy Jones and Costel Pantilimon signing on free transfers and Chelsea fringe player Patrick van Aanholt joining for £1.5m.

Poyet remains confident Sunderland will tie up a deal for Liverpool striker Fabio Borini.
