Gareth Bale insists he has no intention of leaving Real Madrid to join Manchester United.

The former Tottenham attacker, who joined Madrid for a world-record £86million in the summer of 2013, has been linked with a possible move back to the Premier League at the end of this season – possibly with United goalkeeper David De Gea heading back to Spain.

But Bale was keen to quash those rumours. In an interview Spanish radio station Cadena Ser, the 25-year-old Welshman stressed that he sees his future in the Spanish capital.

Asked if the transfer to Old Trafford were possible, Bale said: “For me, no. I did an interview recently and I said I’m happy here, I’ve got several years left on my contract and I’m having a good time. We’re winning trophies and I want to stay here.”

Bale won the Copa del Rey – the Spanish equivalent of the FA Cup – and the Champions League in his first campaign in Madrid, and he helped his team lift the World Club Championship this season.
