Gary Neville has warned the Manchester United board they will face a 'mutiny' if Ole Gunnar Soskjaer is not given the manager's job on a permanent basis.

United remain unbeaten under their interim boss in the Premier League after Sunday's goalless draw with Liverpool.

Solskjaer was already without the injured Anthony Martial and Nemanja Matic ahead of kick-off, but an astonishing spate of knocks also saw him lose Ander Herrera, Juan Mata and Jesse Lingard before half-time, with Marcus Rashford also struggling for most of the contest.

Despite failing to find a way through Jurgen Klopp’s side, those in attendance at Old Trafford created a rocking atmosphere throughout the 90 minutes, singing their manager’s name all afternoon.

Given Solskjaer's extraordinary relationship with the club and his hugely impressive start, former United captain Neville believes there is only one man for the job.

"Three months ago if it was 0-0 at home they would have been singing 'attack, attack, attack'," Neville told Sky Sports.

"They were singing 'Ole Gunnar Solskjaer' all the second-half. The mood has completely transformed.

"He has the crowd with him. I think at this moment in time if you're the board [and] you are in a position where you could give it to someone else, I think there would be a mutiny.

"The fans love him. They were getting behind the team in the second-half but mostly they were singing for him.

"That's one of the best atmospheres I have witnessed at Old Trafford for years in a 0-0 draw.

"If United had scored it would have been absolutely incredible.”
