Mancini is set for showdown with Tevez

11 April 2012

Roberto Mancini will hold talks with Carlos Tevez on Friday in a bid to keep the Argentina star at Manchester City.

Tevez handed in a transfer request last week and appears determined to quit the club but Mancini will ask his captain to explain his decision.

The former Manchester United and West Ham striker has been City's talisman this season, scoring 10 Premier League goals and Mancini is determined to keep his best player.

Like many at the club, the Italian believes Tevez's desire to quit City after just 18 months has been driven by his adviser Kia Joorabchian.

The row deepened yesterday with sources at Eastlands suggesting the club will sue Tevez if he walks away from his lucrative contract or decides not to play.
