Yannick Bolasie wants to rediscover the excellent form he showed last season after signing a new contract with Crystal Palace.
Bolasie has agreed a three-and-a-half-year extension and pledged his future to Palace until 2019.
The 26-year-old winger, who has established himself as one of the most exciting players in the Premier League, said: “Now it is all about getting on the pitch and doing well for the team. That is what I am going to try and do, and replicate what I did last season.
“It has been stop-start [this season] and I am not really at the pace where I think I can be at.
“It is going to take me a couple of starts to really get going. Especially playing on the wing again, because I have been playing up front a lot.”
Palace did not receive any offers for Bolasie over the summer, despite strong links with Spurs, but Alan Pardew knows there will be interest in the Congo international if he maintains his development.
However, the deal puts Palace in a strong negotiating position and Pardew now wants Bolasie to be more consistent.
“Everyone knows what I need to improve on, I know myself, just that final moment,” said Bolasie. “Everywhere else I think I am doing pretty good, it is just that last little bit.”
Palace moved up to sixth in the Premier League with their 1-0 win against Watford yesterday.
But Hornets midfielder Nathan Ake felt his side were unlucky to come away with nothing.
He said: “We played well and had chances in the game.”
