New Manchester United kit: ‘Leaked’ Adidas shirt for 2020/21 called ‘horrendous’ and likened to train seat

Manchester United fans seem far from pleased with what, according to a ‘leaked’ picture on social media, will be their new home strip for next season.

Neither the club, nor German manufacturer Adidas have yet confirmed what Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be wearing come the start of the 2021/20, and if the likes of Jadon Sancho and Harry Kane end up wearing it, fans may not be too bothered.

The image in question features a shirt with the traditional red base, splattered with a pattern of small black and yellow block lines. The design has a white collar and sleeve trim with the iconic Adidas three stripes only stretching across the shoulders, rather than all the way down the arm.

One person said the kit would make supporters “look like we’ve dropped a tin of sweetcorn down us”, while a United fan account called it “horrendous”.

Another said the shirt resembled the “hard wearing carpet they used to put down in night clubs” while another (below) saw more similarity with the seat covering used on public transport.

The strip retains US car giant Chevrolet as its principle sponsor, with the partnership due to run out in 2021.
