Former Manchester United full-back Patrice Evra has posted a cryptic Instagram message about his future amid reports linking him with Crystal Palace.

Sky Italy claim Evra is closing in on a return to the Premier League after the player approved a move to Selhurst Park, where he will link up with former England boss Sam Allardyce.

The 35-year-old posted an image of himself underwater in snorkel and flippers an added the accompanying message: "Deep Moment!!! But I love this game #life #future #decisions #honesty #god."

Evra left Old Trafford for Juventus two-and-a-half years ago in a £5.5million deal and has since gone on to represent the Italian giants in the Champions League final.

During an eight-year spell at United he won five Premier League titles, the Champions League crown and three domestic cups. He has twice won the Serie A title since moving to Italy.

Evra's proposed move to Crystal Palace comes after Allardyce confirmed on Thursday his focus would be on shoring up the club's defence.

He said: "My interest is to strengthen the defensive areas at this time. When [Wilfried] Zaha and [Bakary] Sako come back we'll have options. Loic [Remy's] fit again."
